The Adventure Kids Learning Expedition would like to thank you for helping to make this adventure a real learning experieince for eleven classrooms in Wisconsin. There was over three hundred students who had an opportunity to learn about Guatemala and the Mayans. Many of them got to see a woman doing backstrap weaving in her own home and were able to meet a family. The students were very interactive and had many good questions.

The equiptment that was rented, all worked well. The live-feeds in this long distance learning experience were a "thrill" to all who were involved.

SatWest founder Brian Barnett took this photo of his Hughes 9601 Inmarsat BGAN terminal. “ Black Mountain is a very isolated place ten thousand feet above sea level in the Rocky Mountains. Of course there is no high-speed Internet available. I provided everyone in our lodge wireless Internet access courtesy the Hughes 9601! It performed flawlessly! The terminal was getting a strong signal even through a pretty dense group of Aspens just outside our window.”

SatWest’s founder and chairman, Brian Barnett, directed SatWest’s business operations using his Thrane 500 Inmarsat BGAN terminal on a family vacation and business trip to Europe. With his mobile office powered by BGAN, he had broadband and voice communication from all his stops in Europe. Barnett said, “ I wouldn’t have been able to take such a long vacation without having satellite communications”. He added, “I would even request hotel rooms with windows facing the southeastern sky so I could have direct line of site to the Inmarsat satellite!”

I took the Nera 1000 and my laptop on a yurt trip in southern Colorado so that I could stay in touch with my office. The lightweight Nera fit into my backpack and weighed less than the laptop! I had two major incidents a work while at the yurt. I was able to download the files, resolve the problem and ski in the afternoon.
